Where standing seam whispers, batten cap states: a 50 mm wide cap snapped over each 25 mm seam doubles the shadow line and gives elevations a strong, rhythmic grid. Architects specify it when a building needs visual weight and character.
Panels fix on galvanised clips beneath the caps, so the field of the roof or wall stays completely uninterrupted. It runs on roofs and on horizontal or vertical walls, in all six of our metals.
Slight waviness ('oil canning') is an inherent visual characteristic of all flat-pan architectural metal, not a defect. We minimise it through panel-width selection, substrate preparation and tension-levelled coil — talk to us about matte finishes and narrower pans for critical elevations.
When the elevation needs stronger visual structure than a 25 mm seam provides — larger facades, heritage references, or designs built on rhythm and grid. It photographs powerfully in raking light.
Yes — both. Every panel is roll-formed and folded in our Gold Coast workshop, and installation is carried out by our own trained teams, not subcontracted. One point of responsibility from shop drawing to final flashing, backed by QBCC (1283171) and NSW (276164c) licences.
