Double-LockStanding Seam

The cyclonic-grade seam · Since 2008

Manufactured & Installed by Euroclad

Double-lock is the seam the great European roofs are made of: each join folded once, then mechanically closed a second time into a weather-tight lock. It's the system we specify for cyclonic wind regions, low pitches and anywhere failure isn't an option — like our Castle Hill project in Townsville, built for the cyclone belt.

Installed over minimum 18 mm ply with a 40 mm ventilated air gap and breather membrane, on concealed stainless clips that allow full thermal movement. Traditional look, engineered performance.

Technical note — oil canning

Slight waviness ('oil canning') is an inherent visual characteristic of all flat-pan architectural metal, not a defect. We minimise it through panel-width selection, substrate preparation and tension-levelled coil — talk to us about matte finishes and narrower pans for critical elevations.

Questions, Answered
Why double-lock for cyclonic areas?

The second mechanical fold turns each seam into a continuous locked joint that resists wind-driven water and uplift far beyond snap-together systems. Paired with engineered clip spacing for your wind region, it's the most secure architectural roof available.

Where has Euroclad used double-lock?

Our Townsville Castle Hill residence sits in the Queensland cyclone belt under a double-lock roof — see it on the projects page. We've folded double-lock across QLD, NSW and the Pacific since 2008.

Do you manufacture and install?

Yes — both. Every panel is roll-formed and folded in our Gold Coast workshop, and installation is carried out by our own trained teams, not subcontracted. One point of responsibility from shop drawing to final flashing, backed by QBCC (1283171) and NSW (276164c) licences.
